We are reaching out regarding the current travel bans and the USCIS processing hold on immigration benefit requests filed by individuals – by birth or citizenship – from countries listed in Presidential Proclamations 10998 and 10949. We understand this may affect your plans, and we are here to help you navigate these challenges.
What should you keep in mind?
- If you need to apply for OPT or STEM OPT, you should continue applying on time; however, expect a hold or pause on your application. If you are considering Premium Processing for your case, please reach out to an ISSO adviser to discuss.
- Expect delays if your OPT or STEM OPT application is currently pending.
- Check your case status regularly through the USCIS online system.
- Exercise caution and avoid or defer non-essential international travel while these travel bans are in place.
- Review ISSO’s news items on the USCIS processing hold and travel bans.
As always, ISSO advisers remain available to provide guidance and support. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Sincerely,
International Students and Scholars Office
